I have completely recovered my computer 3 times thinking there is something wrong with the operating system Windows XP. I done this after receiving error message when trying to scan documents – message would appear saying ” trouble communicating with the twain device”. I figured I would reinstall the software only to receive a message the s32event1.DLL initialization device driver did not install, or something to that affect. When I recovered the system it installed and worked maybe twice, but now I get the “unable to communicate with the twain device”. I don’t know where the problem is..Is it the operating system or could the scanner itself be going bad. I don’t want to buy another scanner if it is the operating system. However, when I recovered it back to original specs, you would think it would solve it. I am unemployed right now so I don’t want to buy scanner if it won’t work because of operating system. There was something on MS knowledge page about virtual device that mentioned something about twain error message . I tried their solution with no results. Since then system restored to factory specs. I am using a Visioneer 8700 scanner that I have had for 4 or 5 years and worked great up till 3 or 4 weeks ago. I will mention that I went from dial up on Internet to DSL. I don’t think that should affect it do you? I will say my Verizon, Yahoo browser stopped me from using my Windows Firewall. My mother is very ill and I use the scanner so I can scan medical reports in and send them through E-Mail etc. Is there any thing you can suggest. Is it possible it is the scanner it self?
Please help.Thanks,
Ken Campbell
