Hi just downloaded version 1.9 of the Mac OS X Data Source Manager (DSM).
I compiled using Xcode the example TWAINCLientCocoa and i run it on a Mac with intel processor and OSX 10.4.8.
I installed the TWAIN drivers for my scanner (Epson 1600SU as well as EPSON v10), for both of them the drivers are declared by producer to work with PPC as well as with Intel based Mac Machines.
When i run the example and press the “select source” button the popup which would allow me to select the source is empty.
It works perfectly on a PPC machine.
The .ds files are in the “/Library/Image Capture/TWAIN Data Sources” directory.
Any idea or suggestion about the reason the popup is empty?
Is it possible that TWAIN is not supported of Mac INTEL?
Or probably do i do something wrong?
Thanks in advance.
f.I’m having the exact same problem; just wanted to post more information, hoping it’ll help someone answer this issue sooner.
When I run “Presto PageManager 4.0” (bundled with my Brother MFC 7820N) & select “File / Select Source / TWAIN…”, it brings up the TWAIN “Select Source” dialog and LISTS BOTH MY SCANNERS. The dialog looks IDENTICAL to the one TWAINClientCocoa opens, except that it lists my scanners…
When I run the “ImageCapture_Tiger_SDK”s “TWAIN_DS_Tester”, it also lists both my scanners. I can select one, and when I click “Start” all the handy TWAIN information about the scanner driver is listed just fine.
When I run TWAINClientCocoa on my G4 PowerBook, both my scanners are listed just fine.
Just wanted to post the progress I made today, in case this might help someone else.
I compiled “TWAINClientCocoa” on my PPC-based Mac, and copied the resulting .app to my Intel-based Mac. When I fired it up, the TWAIN “Select Source” dialog listed both of my scanners.
So (as a work-around) if you build your TWAIN-based application on a PPC-based Mac, it will be able to properly render the “Select Scanner” dialog with your system’s list of scanners!
I had this same problem after I worked three months on an app. I went out and bought a new MacBook with Intel chip and my app was broken compiling it with Xcode on the Intel macbook.
Intel, XCode and Twain are bad. Either the source code for the twain driver needs to be coughed up, or a new recompile of the sample Cocoa app would be truly appreciated…….
Please Please recompile or release the source code for use to migrate forward.
When I fired it up, the TWAIN “Select Source” dialog listed both of my scanners. So it is recommended that is you are looking in brackets (as a work-around) if you build your TWAIN-based application on a PP C-based Mac, it will be able to properly render the “Select Scanner” dialog with your system’s list of scanner ….
I have also downloaded the Mac OS X Data Source Manager version 1.9, and same problems here. Is there any known issues with the new version are reported yet? The pop- ups coming blank. Are there any conflict issues with the new version and browser?
