for a virtual scanner I use Kodak’s i series (i30, i40, etc) in simulation mode
(search the forum for ‘simulation mode’). I do the vast majority of my dev on a laptop on the train without twain hardware attached. Works great.

I want to write a small application in VC++ to connect/enable any twain complaint scanner.

define ‘small’.

define ‘any’.

which sku of vc++? (6, 2003, 2005, 2008, express, standard, etc.. )

then, what do you want to be able to do with the thing once you’re connected?

.
