…have been programming in C++ with the Borland compiler for a decade and never got into major troubles.

And then you came to twain, welcome to the group. Twain is odd. I blame the oddness I experience on the structures being defines with FAR, but then I don’t have half the c++ experience you seem to have.

What happens when you try your code with a microsoft compiler? Not doubting your experience in c++, but it is odd that we get different results.
