Hi All,
Do you know 64 bits TWAIN compliant applications?
If so what TWAIN drivers do they use? 32 bits TWAIN drivers via some bridge between 32 and 64 bits processes or 64 bits TWAIN drivers?Thank you,
AndrewI have not heard of any 64-bit TWAIN applications. The fact that there are essentially no 64-bit TWAIN drivers makes it almost pointless to build a 64-bit TWAIN application, unless the scanning function is truly (pardon the pun) peripheral.
Are you looking for 64-bit apps so you can test a driver?
The TWAIN Working Group’s developer toolkit includes ‘Twacker’ in a 64-bit version – this is also more of a demo/test application.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/twain-samples/files/My EZTwain library comes in a 64-bit edition, and the SDK includes several TWAIN test apps compiled in x64:
http://eztwain.com/eztwain4.htm- Twister is an app that does a kind of static compliance check on a TWAIN driver – primarily capability values and behavior.
Twirl is an interactive interface to the TWAIN API – most of what you can do programmatically through the TWAIN API, you can do interactively in Twirl.
Twerp is a kind of ‘demo scanning app’ – but not meant to be used as a production tool.I also have an experimental TWAIN 64-bit to 32-bit Bridge that is moving slowly toward beta-test. It makes existing 32-bit TWAIN drivers usable by 64-bit TWAIN applications.
If you’re interested, read about it and contact me through this website:
http://www.twain-bridge.com/twain-6432-bridge.htmlHere is the DocImage Twain scannerwhich is compatible with 32 and 64 bit binaries system, actully, im not so clear with the difference between twain and ocr, the two both can read the image data.
There is a talented Acquisition Framework for .NET Platform available I’ve used before. It has common Api for Sane as well as for Twain interfaces. It is a 32-bit TWAIN applications. To acquire an image, few lines of code is enough:
//Select a twain driver
//MorenaSource source=TwainManager.selectSource(null);
//Or select a Sane driver
MorenaSource source=SaneConnection.connect("localhost").selectSource(null);
//From this point of code, it is independent if source is twain or sane:
Image image=Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage(source);
And I think a fine image SDK will offer TWAIN scanner as well. You can google and have a look. Good luck.
Our application PixEdit is fully tested with 64 bit Twain drivers. At least one vendor of (professional) document scanners have released true 64 bit drivers and other are in the process. See http://www.pixedit.com, PixEdit PRO comes in a 64 bit version which runs 64 bit drivers.
Twain scanner is not only can be installed on 32 bit binaries and 64 bit binaries windows operating system, but also can be implemented within the HTML document image viewer on web application, inclduing single page scanning and batch scan as well as both front and back of page using duplex scanning. The Twain scanning progress is some like the WinForms Twain scanning.
