I have an HP scanner which won’t scan, telling me there is a problem accessing a shared library file called TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb. The file with this name on my Mac is either not the right file, or not where the scanner wants it, or both. I have found numerous links on support websites, including HP’s own, telling me to come to twain.org and download this file. Click the Downloads tab, they say. I cannot find one on the TWAIN site. Download the TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb file, they say. The search engine cannot find it. I was even given a direct link to the download, which included the string TWAIN_for_Mac_OS_X_SDK.dmg.bin. No luck. The printer/scanner is HP PSC 1510, and my OS is Mac OS 10.6.8. The printer prints, makes good photocopies but though it appears to go through the motions of scanning, no accessible image is produced. When I click the ‘scan’ button in HP’s image manager, I am told it cannot find TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb Help! Is all the advice I’ve read wrong? Can twain.org really not come to my rescue? Can anyone advise???

    Hello,

I also have an HP scanner (PSC 1315v) with the same problem. I was unable to scan the minute I upgraded to OSX.6, Snow Leopard. HP’s site is great with their instructions with various steps to check all the possible causes. This step is a dead end……….

    Go to http://www.twain.org
Locate and then click the Downloads tab or link. (no link)
Locate and then click the Mac DSM file. The Mac DSM download page opens.

NOTE:The Mac DSM file is located toward the bottom of the Downloads page.

………there is no download tab. Can you help? I am sure I need the link to the download to fix my problem. or is there another way to find this….TWAIN_for_Mac_OS_X_SDK.dmg.bin?

    Help!

I have also similar problems. I have a Macintosh computer running with Mac OS X 10.6.8. To this computer I have connected an Epson scanner 2450 Photo. This scanner has worked perfectly well for me for many years. Recently the hard disk on my computer crashed, and I had to restore the contents of the hard disk to a new hard disk from a backup created with the by Apple provided backup system called “Time Machine” which generally is regarded as a very good backup system.

However, since I reinstalled all files to the new hard disk, I cannot use the Epson scanner any more. I get the following error message when I try to start the “Epson scan” program om my computer:
“Applikation Launch Failure/The application “EPSON Scan” could not be launched because of a shared library error: “ <>“.

I have reinstalled the Epson Scan program. I have found a file named “Twain Source Manager.Shlb”. I have put copies of this file into the folder Macintosh HD/Epson/Epson Scan and also into the folder Users/jpalme/Library/Preferences/Epson/Epson Scan. I have also created a folder “Epson Scan” inside the folder “Epson Scan” and put “Twain Source Manager.Shlb” there. Nothing helps. Still the same error message.

Do I have to buy a new scanner, in spite of having a fully well working scanner, since I cannot get the scanner software to work anymore.
