Ladies/Gentlemen,
I am pretty new to these boards though I have browsed through them from time to time before I became a member. I have a problem that I am hoping that someone can help me out with.
Please understand, though, that I am primarily a hardware technician, not so much a software technician though I can do a lot of software related fixes. However this one is beyond me.
This topic has been broached before. I know because I saw a thread similar in nature to what I’m about to ask about.
I have two programs that will not work correctly in Windows Vista with a Canon DR-7580 Scanner. Adobe Acrobat 9 and Photoshop CS3. They both worked great in Windows XP, but since the government is forcing Vista upon us I have had no choice but to use it.
I have loaded the most recent Vista drivers for this scanner (if you call 2005 the most recent). Again, these drivers worked great in XP. Matter of fact, Acrobat 7 worked great in Vista, but Acrobat 9 will not.
I get an error message that reads “Can’t locate device; check cable and power (-4536) whenever I try to bring up either program. Then in Photoshop I get an additional message about not having the correct twain drivers in the c:WindowsTwain32 directory.
I’m stuck, and the IT pros at my office are stuck. I’m hoping they will let me revert back to an XP machine but they say I hope in vain as they want everyone to be running Vista by 31 Dec.
I’m not much for coding or working in any program languages. As I said, my forte is hardware, but if someone has, or knows of a fix, for this problem, I’m all ears.
Thanks.
The error occurs because DR-7580 driver tries to write setscan.ini file in Windows directory and it fails.
Try to change the security settings of the file to “Everyone Full Control” , and the error will be solved.Thank you my friend! That did the trick! We are, once again, happy Vista campers, until the next crisis of course.
I really appreciate your help.
