    Hum… 😕
    That’s a flatbed scanner right ?

If so, I had some troubles like this with my Agfa too, the problem was the locker for transport that sometimes stays in locked position if I move the scanner too often … if it is not the locker, maybe something is broken … did you try to make it work in another computer ?

Jeez, I only noticed this after I finished my own posting on essentially the same subject! Do you think it’s something to do with the Southern English climate this time of year?

Have you tried contacting Epson tech support yet? I have. If you read my own post, you’ll see why I was less than satisfied with their first response, beginning: “The issue you are experiencing is in relation to a communication problem between the scanner and the computer”.

I would be fascinated to know if you are also able to scan with the UI hidden. I’d suggest using Twirl, but that would require downloading and installing EZTWAIN Pro on a trial basis (it’s distributed with EZTWAIN Pro). If you’re happy to do that, give it a go; I think you get 21 days free. Otherwise, I can email you a little app that I wrote which will also answer the question, if you’re interested.

    Hi MDES,

I don’t know if you are addressing me or the OP. If it’s me, the answer is Win2k. You might like to have a look at the other thread I referred to in my reply to the OP:

    http://www.twainforum.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19

which documents how my own problem was resolved. I did exchange an email or two with the OP but evidently it wasn’t a high priority for him and I have no idea how (or if) he fixed his own problem.

… my eyes read “TWAIN”, my brain translated it into “Windows”. Sorry 😳

What do you mean by “version of TWAIN”? If you mean:
    – twain_32.dll, the answer is v1.7.0.0
    – perf2480.ds, the answer is 2.5.0.1

    Hello Jamie Liskutin,
Your problem is probably a connection one. First, is the USB cable an original one supplied with the scanner?. OK, Now remove the Epson software programs, then re-install them, read the bit in instructions about anti virus, and firewall programs, do what Epson recomends before you re-install. Try your scanner again.
Come back to ” The TWAIN Forum.
I have a 1670, it works OK, but I prefer the Twain 4 software program, supplied with the Epson Perfection 1200 Photo. Unless one pays for expensive professional programs, the software supplied with new scanners appears to be very ” Mickey Mouse “.
