I’ve bought a commercial application (CardScan) that will NOT read image files from my hard disk, but CAN use TWAIN-compatible scanners.

Do you know of a product that will emulate the TWAIN interface so I can feed image files into this application? Basically, I need something SIMPLE that will pretend to be a scanner, but actually reads files already stored on disk.

    Regards,
    –TC.

    Thomas,

XPCTWAIN should exactly do what you need. Please see details and a demo version at http://www.jse.de.

    Best regards,

Yeah, but at 200 Euros a pop, it’s a very expensive proposition. I don’t even know how to get my organization to buy anything outside of the U.S…

I could probably use something like this at 10 seats. Isn’t there anything out there in the public domain that will do this? Seems like it generally would be a very useful thing to have…

We (http://www.burrotech.com) have some such code “lying around” from a network TWAIN scanner project. It takes files from disk or a TCP socket and acts as a TWAIN driver. If you want we can adapt the program to your needs and supply a site license for a much smaller price. Email me (mail – at – burrotech.com with subject line “scanner enquiry”) and we can discuss the project if you are interested.

Have you tried twain sample ds that comes with TWAIN toolkit (https://www.twain.org/archive/toolkit17.zip). You’ll have to find a way to rename the files manually or change some portion of it.
