I would like to convert the Twack_32 C code to VB6. Has this already been done? Is it possible? I’ve seen a lot of requests for this on the net and the responses have all been “find a VB6 Twain interface”. I can’t use the black-box interface for my VB6 apps. We have a specific problem that we need to address at a lower level than these interfaces provide.
I’ve tried to convert the C code into something I can use in VB6 (like a COM DLL) but that’s going nowhere fast. C++ gives me fits.
Thanks for your help!

yes and no. It seems to me that all projects using twain, regardless of programming language, are in some way based on twack32 so any vb6 then is twack32 code converted to vb6, no? More directly, I have not seen a vb6 project with the same interface.

Not having attempted it and not fully knowing the limitations of vb6 I can confidently (naively?) say Yes. No problem. Should take about 3 hours.

Those were quality responses and there is a lesson in what you’ve found so far.

Why not? You’d save lots and lots of time. If you rate your time at 1 dollar/hour you’d still come out ahead in most cases.

This seems to be the meat of the issue. Elaborate on the problem. It may be true that no existing libraries anywhere address your requirement,… maybe. But without stating the problem I can’t do anything but guess (badly in most cases) that what you’re seeing had been seen before and that there exists a solution.
When black-box solutions (seem to) fail you could always contact a company that specialized in providing solutions. I want to remember that Dosadi does something of the sort and they seem that have a firm grasp of twain and vb6. But like I said before, elaborate on you ‘specific problem’. You have my attention.@tonisimon wrote:

if you posted the trouble you’ve had,.. maybe an error message and some information about your development environment you would get a more meaningful response to this. Without an specific problem to address I’m only left with poor attempts at humor..

I don’t really have anything worthwhile to say here but PM me if you’d like my top 10 answers to this statement.
