Sorry this is simple question, but I cannot find anything on the web about this issue.

When I’m scanning a 1 bpp image compressed using Group4 compression I check the ICAP_PIXELFLAVOR and the ICAP_PIXELFLAVORCODES.

According to the specification, ICAP_PIXELFLAVORCODES tells whether the value of ICAP_PIXELFLAVOR is inverted. My questiion is how does it tell this?

    The possible combinations are:
    ICAP_PIXELFLAVOR, ICAP_PIXELFLAVORCODES = INVERTED?
    TWPF_CHOCOLATE, TWPF_CHOCOLATE = Inverted:Yes/No?
    TWPF_CHOCOLATE, TWPF_VANILLA = Inverted:Yes/No?
    TWPF_VANILLA, TWPF_CHOCOLATE = Inverted:Yes/No?
    TWPF_VANILLA, TWPF_VANILLA = Inverted:Yes/No?

When is the image inverted and when is it not?

You don’t see many questions asked here when it comes to compression and few of those seem to be answered well…

Very little is mentioned of icap_PixelFlavorCodes in the spec, from there I usually make the assumption that the vendor made a judgment call and for a meaningful answer you’ll have to contact them.
If you’re looking for for idle speculation, I’d say that both caps describe the ‘sense’ of the pixel, one without compression and one with compression. When the values are different then they are inverted.

But like I said, when the specification is light on details (and sometimes even when it is dead clear) you’ll probably have to get the vendor to tell you how they interpreted the spec.

and then I looked thru the JFL’s archive (their link in under the sticky ‘other places to search for twain’) and searching for ICAP_PICELFLAVORCODES hit two posts there are somewhat relevant to your question. One ‘memory transfer’ and one ‘reverse colors’, they may help. Good luck,
