Hi!
How to use TWAIN on Linux?Scanner GuruZorro,
Since TWAIN Direct is an API, and can be hosted as a web service, TWAIN Direct can be used on Linux servers (a.k.a. TWAIN Cloud) and can be utilized to develop a Linux desktop or web application.
AlexHello.
My research shown that only Kodak provides TWAIN drivers for Linux.
Fujitsu, Canon, HP does not provide TWAIN drivers for Linux – they provide SANE drivers for Linux.
Is TWAIN on Linux dead? Could someone shed some light on using TWAIN in Linux?
Best regards, Alexander
Hi Alex: Please check out exactcode.com – they make TWAIN drivers for Mac and Linux (also windows) – a direct contact is rene@exactcode.de
AlexHi Erin,
Thank you for information.
I visited web site exactcode.com and found that ExactScan (exactscan.com) can be used in macOS and Windows only:
===
System Requirements
macOS 12, 11, 10.15, 10.14, 10.13, 10.12, 10.11, 10.10, or 10.9; Windows 10, 8, 7, or XP.
===Linux is not supported. ???
Best regards, Alexander
René RebeDear Alex,
ExactScan is actually supporting Linux as listed on the universal landing page: https://exactscan.com/universal/
We probably should rework our website a bit now that ExactScan support all the platforms on top of our classic macOS application.
In fact the Windows and Linux versions are nearly identical, and booth support TWAIN scanner drivers in addition to our over 500 built-in scanner drivers and TWAIN Direct: https://exactscan.com/compatiblescanner.shtmlAlexHello Rene,
Thank you for information.
I was able to use Kodak S2070 scanner in Ubuntu 20.04 using TWAIN data source manager 2.4.3. Now I know that TWAIN is available in Linux.
Best regards, Alexander
