I have a customer using a Bell & Howell Spectrum XF8140DC with a Twain VRS driver. From debug logs I can see that scanning slows down during a session with each call to DG_IMAGE / DAT_IMAGENATIVEXFER / MSG_GET. It starts out very quick and becomes quite slow after 100 pages or so.
I’ve also noticed that every other call to DG_CONTROL / DAT_PENDINGXFERS / MSG_ENDXFER takes 0.6 to 0.8 seconds to return. If there are no more pages in the feeder it takes 2 to 10 seconds to return.
Has anyone else experienced slow down issues with VRS drivers? Any feedback and/or suggestions are appreciated.
Skip the hole VRS. I would guess the problem is speed of transfer, a lot of data is coming and flow (inlcuding driver and scanner memory cache) is getting full. Use programs that could scan in jpeg and it would keep up with max speed of the scanner. Then the program would process the pages afterwards (blank page removal, deskew, color reducion etc). Bet on the market is the program PixEdit from Techsoft
