Hi TWAIN Gang!
New kid on the block looking for a place to start developing a plugin of sorts to be used in a web page.
In other words, a way where someone can view a web page with a plugin that will let the user scan a page, maybe do a few simple edits like rotate, DPI and color stuff then hit “Upload” and off it goes to a server. Is there a TWAIN SDK already for these kind of plugins available? I don’t want to re-invent the wheel…
Any hints are appreciated!
thanks,
GabsteroIf you Google “TWAIN scanner from web page” I bet within the first couple of links you will find something.
Hi gabstero,
You can try Dynamic Web TWAIN, a TWAIN SDK that allows you to scan documents with customized resolution, color, etc., edit scanned images (rotate, mirror, remove…) and upload them to your web server. You can take a look at the following page to learn more.
http://www.dynamsoft.com/Products/WebTWAIN_Overview.aspxDynamsoft also has an online demo which shows some main functions of the SDK.

Adam –
Thanks – I checked dynamsoft – nice interface but somewhat pricey considering that each client will need to purchase a separate license.
PeterP – googled that. Thanks. Found most of what I already was familiar with.
I think the only route for me is to actually build an activeX component myself. Any recommandations on where to start?
C or VB?thanks,

For Dynamic Web TWAIN, actually if your clients are end users, they don’t need to purchase any license. Once you get your application deployed, the number of end users is unlimited.

Thanks, Adam. I might have read their licensing info all wrong. What I am after is basically to be able to distribute the activeX TWAIN browser component. I have my own server that will handle the uploaded scanned image via http or ftp protocol.
thanks,
Gabi.Gabi, I think their ActiveX bundle license can fulfill your needs.
FYI, Dynamsoft provides very good customer service. You would like it. 🙂
Is question still actual?
cloudscan (http://www.scanworkssoftware.com/cloudscan.aspx) can be helpful for this task. this is silverlight plug in but pure web will be available soon
