😥 I just bought a twain scanner…hooked it up and went to my file menu on the upper left of screen…. the printer isn’t there. Why? Also, do I have to have a printer and have it hooked to the scanner as well? I mean is it necessary?

Hi Frogginmad – I couldn’t understand your question(s): You start out talking about a TWAIN scanner, but then talk about the printer. Is this a multifunction device that is both a scanner and a printer?
And when you say “went to my file menu on the upper left of screen” – I’m totally confused. There is no file menu at the upper left of the screen, at least under Windows. Are you using a Mac? It would be a *really good idea* to mention your operating system (Windows XP, Mac OS X ‘Jaguar’, etc.), and also the brand and model of device you are talking about. And if you are running Windows, then the only way you would have a File menu is when you are working with an application: It would be a good idea to also mention the name and version of the application e.g. Word 2005.
No, you don’t have to have a printer, or have it hooked to your scanner – at least on Windows, the two are generally not related. Even if your scanner can also print, Windows will imagine that a printer and a scanner are somehow magically talking to it over one cable. Hope this helps a little…
