Hello
I am a lan admin for a small business. I am not a programmer/developer but as you all know, we do what needs to be done to take care of a need or a problem on the LAN. So, I dabble in vb.net and whatever else will help me accomplish a goal and meet a need.Long story short, I’d like to make our users happy by programming a slider control that can set brightness/contrast (bypassing the HP scanner’s control which does not keep the setting from one scan to the next – Annoying!)
So, if I have to get some level of understanding about how to work with TWAIN in VB.net (I have programmed some simple tools in that ) it would be great.
Where can I find a sort of tutorial that can explain basics of this?
I have seen sample code which lists different sections of code – some just define structures etc
but how does it all tie together?
I have read about 1/5 of the API on twain.orgHello,
Indeed in VB.net it is not that easy. As you also should handle the message loop for TWAIN messages.
If you are not interested in commercial tools please ignore the following but this command line tool is a great time saver.
With the command line scan tool TWAINCommander you can do all the TWAIN implementation with only a single call.
Here is a sampleSub Scan()
‘ TWAINCommander macro to scan into a TIFF file
Dim x%
x% = Shell(“twaincom c:windowstemptest.tif”, vbNormalFocus)
End SubSub SelectSource()
‘ TWAINCommander macro to select TWAIN Data Source
Dim x%
x% = Shell(“twaincom -t”, vbNormalFocus)
End SubBest regards,
