Hello. I’m writing an open-source application to connect to various network scanners. I’ve already got support for two scanners, and I’m working on adding support for a third. The problem is, I can’t seem to figure out the protocol that this new scanner uses. I’ve asked the hardware vendor about the protocol they use, and they say they use the “standard network twain protocol”. So I’ve been searching a lot to try to figure out where I can find the specs for this protocol. So far, I’ve found the Twain specs, which look just like an API spec to me, and header files for that spec. Does Twain provide a protocol for communicating to network scanners? From the information I can find in the twain specs, it requires drivers to be written for each specific scanner, which would imply to me that there is no standard protocol that each device must use.
Thanks,
Jacob Brown
