I’m using a digital camera and trying to fully automate a system to save images from it via python and the twain python module. Has anyone had any luck with twain python module or a twain compatible digital camera?

My current problem is that the application waits in state 5 until the source signals that it is ready to transfer. But the digital camera is always ready to transfer, so I’m not sure how to get to state 6 and actually transfer the image.

Thanks in advance for any help.

In the spirit of giving more detailed posts, (and because I’ve got no alternative to solving this problem) here are some specifics:

I’m running Python 2.6.5 on Windows XP Professional. Using a ScopeTek DCM500 camera with driver found here. Additionally, I’ve tried both tkinter and wxPython implementation modules to no avail. Furthermore, working with XferByFile appears to be more problems than its worth, so I have resorted to Native Xfer.

I have been successful in using twexplorer to capture images, so I know everything is able to function. Furthermore, I have almost been able to replicate its activity. However, I am required to click the ‘Capture’ button in order to switch from state 5 to state 6 and allow the image acquisition/transfer to proceed. In my need of having a completely automated system, this will just not do.

So, I need a way to tell the application that the source is ready, other than clicking. Thanks in advance for any help.
