I do not have problems with Microsoft’s LiveCam VX3000.
Kodax has a bundled software/scanner that scans docs to jpg, pdf or tiffs. For converting from MSWord to PDF I would look at GNOSTICE.COM components to do the work. It needs some programming work though.
You can integrate the process by writing the output into a memory stream and have it integrated with your EMR and save it to database by loading it from stream. GNOSTICE has all these capabilities. If you need more info just continue this thread with your questions.June 6, 2009 at 9:18 pm in reply to: Kodak TWAIN driver issue (all versions all scanners all OS) #24618can you post the code on how you did this?
March 9, 2009 at 12:19 am in reply to: Saving image as the file format and TIF with delphi twain? #24822Here is link to use Delphi’s TJpegImage component. Here is what I did:
http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-10878_11-5031886.htmljImage:TJpegImage; // declared in the unit header
procedure TMainForm.TwainTwainAcquire(Sender: TObject; const Index: Integer;
Image: TBitmap; var Cancel: Boolean);
var
mStream: TMemoryStream;
bImage: TBitMap;
begin
// Convert Image to jpeg
mStream := TMemoryStream.Create;
bImage := TBitmap.Create;
jImage.Empty;
jImage.compressionQuality := jComp; // compression – ignore if not needed// assign and convert to grayscale
jImage.assign(Image); // image is the bitmap acquired
jImage.Compress; //
jImage.Grayscale := true; // I do not need the color –
// convert back to bmp so that
// I can display on the TImage panelbImage.Assign(jImage);
// and display in TImage
Image1.Picture.Assign(bImage);end;
I would look into the OnTwainAcquire event. This is where the bitmap is assign into a holding variable. What I did was to convert the bitmap right into a tJpegImage type variable. I then change the compression and did a conversion to grayscale. This might not be pertinent in your case, just throwing some ideas…
What happens on a lower resolution setting? Were you able to scan? What image format are you using? Remember that 48-bit images take a lot of memory.
If I have this project, I would do the following. Firstly, it is known that the download is not in sequence. From what I understand there is a time marker(in jpg files) that you can use to sort the images. My log file then would be to get the time sequence and use that as you sort mechanism. I would place my log data in a datatable with an indexed key which will automatically sort the data.
I hope I did not confuse you.
Thanks Gabe. Slowly but surely I am loearning the intricacies of the TWAIN specs. I could actually call the UI programmatically and adjust the settings, which is then kept somewhere (I am not sure where – in the equipment cache perhaps?).
I am using a card reader (scanshell 800NR). The company has their own SDK but they charge 😥 for the license.
Here is the follow up – I did manage to stop the UI from showing up. I need to set the pixels, the color (I want to make the image grayscale) and the size of the image. How to do this is still beyond me. Until such time when I can have a meaningful response to this thread I will content myself experimenting around. Who knows, some knowledgeable person out there can help me 🙄
