Hi,
I am using twacker (32bit) application to scan the document.
When I select “Select Source” it shows two entries in the dialog box.
one is TWAIN and other one is WIA.
If I scan with TWAIN the image is coming correctly.
But while scanning through WIA, full image is not coming.
The image comes only at visible are of drawing region, once I drag the scroll bar which comes
after scanning on drawing dialog, it does not show the full image and application(twacker) too stop
responding. Please suggest what can be the issue? I am using Fujitsu scanners (fi-6130,fi-6110,fi-5120)
Best Regards,
SharadThe WIA entry that you’re seeing is the TWAIN-on-WIA compatibility layer that Microsoft provides. This module detects the presence of a WIA driver and provides a TWAIN interface that can be seen by programs like Twacker. It’s a poor TWAIN driver with many problems, none of which will ever be fixed.
To reiterate, Fujitsu has a WIA and a TWAIN driver present on the system. Both were written by them. However, the TWAIN-on-WIA entry that you’re seeing was not written by them and is not under their control. This is true for any scanner vendor that installs a WIA driver.
You need to avoid using it. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to remove it. However, in your own code you can prevent people from seeing it as an option…
Michael WangHi :
Do you have example code to just show the TWAIN drive and remove the WIA entry ?
Thanks.
markmThe solution is to switch to the open source TWAINDSM.DLL supplied by the TWAIN Working Group (it’s been out for more than 10 years). This DSM does not show the WIA drivers.
