Hi,
I have query about the behavior of Insert button in Microsoft Word. Insert button is disabled after scan is performed once. Thereafter we have to use Custom Insert button to perform scan instead.
Can you please tell me why it gets disabled and how can we enable it? Is there a cabality that has to be set to keep the Insert button enabled.
Thanks a lot.
Regards,
DR_ANGEL.Office applications set a value in the registry that contains its iterpretation of each DS’s capabilities. You can find the settings in the registry at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Microsoft
Office
11 (your version may be different)
Common
ScanI just delete the Device, Device# {#=0,1,…} and Flags# values. This will enable the Insert button again.
Now, why did it get disabled in the first place? I had a similar experience and in my case, I was responding to a query for the current X resolution with a one-value data type. I changed the return type to an enumeration and Word (and all office apps) were happy. If there is anything in your communication with Word that it doesn’t approve of, it will block your DS from doing an Insert. Carefully step through the dialog between Word and your DS and compare each response to the spec.
Good luck.
