We convert MSWord documents to PDF with a stand alone piece of software called Black Ice. Then we import those PDFs into our Electronic Medical Records software (an application service provider called VirMedice) which usually uses a twain driven scanner to import tiffs and attach to the medical record. So the (twain) scanner tiffs act correctly all the time. But some properties of the PDFs don’t let our separate stand-alone Fax Server software (ZetaFax) treat the imported PDFs correctly. [pulling hair out, gnashing of teeth].
SO! would a twain compliant document converter, in the first place of converting the .doc to .pdf or .tif solve this problem? Do I need a total document management makeover? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Any input would be SUUUUUPER.
Thanks
novicePixEdit would probably do it all for you, Twain scan, doc to pdf, tiff to pdf, pdf to tiff, ocr and more.
Kodax has a bundled software/scanner that scans docs to jpg, pdf or tiffs. For converting from MSWord to PDF I would look at GNOSTICE.COM components to do the work. It needs some programming work though.
You can integrate the process by writing the output into a memory stream and have it integrated with your EMR and save it to database by loading it from stream. GNOSTICE has all these capabilities. If you need more info just continue this thread with your questions.- AuthorPosts
