Hola!
I am new to TWAIN and I’ve been researching around to gain further information, so bare with me (and feel free to correct/enlighten me) as I go.
I am looking for a digital camera that’s currently in the market which carries a TWAIN driver for it. I am looking for my options among web cams and point and shoots, but with a resolution greater than 4 megapixels.
I’ve been looking around but so far I’ve had no luck. Anything is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
– EHi emahle,
You can try TWAIN drivers from Canon.

Dynamsoft| TWAIN SDKThank you very much Adam!
By any chance is there a list of which Canon cameras these will work with?
– E
Sorry emahle. Currently, I don’t have such a list. It seems that less camera drivers support TWAIN nowadays. I recommend you consult Canon (or any others you have in mind) to see if they have any suggestions.
It would be great if you can share the info with us if you make any progress.
Thanks.
Adam
Dynamsoft| TWAIN SDKGood Morning Adam,
I did e-mail Canon on the day I posted this thread. Sadly this is what I got as a response:
Unfortunately, none of our current PowerShot models have TWAIN drivers
that come with them. All of the cameras are PTP compatible with the
newer operating systems (for Windows and Mac), so they no longer have
TWAIN drivers. Some companies have devices that work with our cameras,
and will have their own TWAIN drivers to work with camera products. To
verify compatibility of those devices with our cameras, it is best to
contact the manufacturer of that device. After further research, I did find a company that seems to have the best and most up to date solution to using currently manufactured cameras with TWAIN drivers:
After trying to use their inPhoto ID WDM (for web cameras), we found their trial download link to be broken. I e-mailed them regarding this but since the company is in Russia, it seems like we have to wait a full day to get a response with the difference in time zones.
I will keep this thread updated as I get a response from akond.net and get to test out their software. We are currently using a Logitech webcamera (one of their recommended ones from the website) for our tests.

Hi emahle,
Thanks for your detailed information. Please do share with us if you make any progress.

Dynamsoft| TWAIN SDKSo great progress was made yesterday.
After realizing our outlook system was having some trouble contacting akond.net, I was able to quickly get a response once I e-mailed from my personal e-mail.
I spoke to Alla at Akond, who provided me with the fixed link to the inPhoto WDM software trial.
I installed the trial and it worked fairly well. What I was most impressed was that we brought in a Logitech WebCam to test it out (one that was on their list of recommended cameras, which has about a dozen suggestions).
To my surprise, the software recognized both the Logitech and the laptop’s built in webcam!
The TWAIN driver integrated very nicely with our software (effortless really), so we are very happy to have found a solution to our problems.
Hope this helps anyone looking for a solution to their problems with using TWAIN for image capture (off cameras).
If anyone has any questions let me know.
– Erick
Congratulations, Erick. And thanks for sharing. 🙂

Dynamsoft| TWAIN SDKA large number of manufacturers do not support their cameras with TWAIN drivers. I made a mistake and bought 1 Logitech and 1 Canon webcam and got stuck as I was not aware that there were no TWAIN drivers available. However, I googled a lot and managed to find a program that acts like an universal driver for any webcam, scanner, or similar devices. I purchased it immediately as it fits my clinic’s needs perfectly. This is the link where it can be downloaded: http://www.terminalworks.com/unitwain
We have TWAIN driver (camera control and ID photo software) for current Canon PowerShot cameras, Canon SLR cameras, web cameras: http://www.akond.net. All products can be used as TWAIN driver.
DUDUIs it possible to connect the mobile phone in a tawin interface?
