Does anybody know of a User Guide or specification describing the functionality, features or method for using the TWACK_32.EXE from the TWAIN Working Group ?

    🙂

Thank you, gabe, for the reply.

    If not, why not ?

Is there a recommended sequence of operations to select for a general functionality test of a TWAIN source ?

Also, on the “Special” menu, is the order of items the normal expected sequence of operations ?

    >If not, why not.
    why not what?

    >Is there a recommended sequence of operations to select for a general functionality test of a TWAIN source ?
Elaborate on “for a general functionality test” for me, and i’ll try to describe how i would use it for a pÃ¥articular type of test.

My main use for the util is to compare the results of ops that i run against twain_32 to a known and in that use i’m usually using the sample code with breakpoints set so i can see if my values match.

    >the “Special” menu, is the order of items the normal expected sequence of operations ?”
yeah, take a look at page 17 of the 1.9a spec you should see the flow there.

fell free to shoot me an IM, maybe this is easier to explain a bit more interactively

Thanks again, gabe, for your reply.

My original question was “… does anybody know …” – the implied question was “… is there any documentation …”. I presumed you were answering the implied question “no”; hence, “If not, why not?” meant “If there is no user guide or description written, why not?”

In my 45 years in the computer/electronics industry – 37 years as a software designer – I do not recall any “universal” utility in the industry that did not have some type of written description. I guess I’ll have to write up my own documentation on it.

Thanks for trying to answer my questions.

My understanding is that TWACKER is just an example program of how to use the TWAIN toolkit. As such there is no documentation except for the comments.

Remember, the TWAIN working group doesn’t provide applications or utilities just a toolkit from which to create an application. TWACKER is simply an exanple of how to do this.

Thank you, Brian, for your input. Guess I’ll just try to make my own.

Can anyone help how to setup Twacker in Duplex mode. I couldn’t figure out using the user interface of Twacker and it looks like things have to be done in some order, which I don’t know what it is.

rameshsr – I would suggest you post this query as a separate topic – it may get more attention that way. I suggest using the topic “How do I set Duplex in TWACKER” or something similar. Sorry I cannot answer your question directly,

You have to change the capability CAP_DUPLEXENABLED. Select the Special menu and then the Load/Open SM item. Then select the Open Source item from the same menu. Finally select the Send item from the same menu.

In the Capability dropdown select the CAP_DUPLEXENABLED. In the MSG dropdown select MSG_GET. Click Send. The Structure text area should indicate a Value of FALSE. To set it change MSG to MSG_SET and then change the Value dropdown to TRUE. Click Send to set. The Returned text box should read “TWRC_SUCCESS”. If not then the scanner doesn’t support Duplex.
